Dangerous Driving & Police Pursuit Charges Withdrawn & Dismissed

Dangerous Driving & Police Pursuit Charges Withdrawn & DismissedLast week Michal Mantaj, Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law & Trial Advocate, appeared for a young man charged with taking part in a police pursuit.

On conviction, the offence attracts a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a period of three (3) years and an automatic disqualification of a driver’s licence for a period of three (3) years.

The facts of the case were that when the police tried to pull our client over for a minor speeding offence, instead of pulling over he led police on a high speed chase around the Gosford area.

The most challenging aspect of the case was that our client admitted his guilt to the offence but nonetheless needed to avoid a conviction and disqualification. The disqualification of his licence would have led to him losing his job and a promising career in the automotive industry.

Mr Mantaj was able to persuade the Court that the charge should be dismissed without any finding of guilt, conviction or disqualification based on our client’s mental health issues.

This means that our client can now get on with this life without the potentially devasting consequences which one bad decision could have had on his life.
