We are thrilled to announce that our Associate, Liam Loader, has been named Regional / Suburban Lawyer of the Year at the 2026 Australian Law Awards, held last night, 30 July, at The Star, Sydney.
The win recognises Liam’s outstanding contribution to the profession and to the clients and community he serves outside of the major metropolitan legal markets, and caps off a standout year for him professionally.
About Liam
Liam is an Associate Solicitor in our Civil Litigation team, based in Gosford, and a proud Central Coast local. After graduating from the Australian National University with Honours, he began his legal career in corporate law, working in financial restructuring and insolvency, which exposed him to significant corporate matters including the Crown Casino Royal Commission. He went on to complete a Supreme Court Judges’ Associateship in Darwin, gaining invaluable courtroom advocacy and criminal procedure experience, along with first-hand insight into effective representation from the Bench.
An accomplished advocate, Liam holds a National Golden Gavel Final Special Commendation, and is driven by a strong belief in the role access to justice plays in building a fairer, more equitable society — a philosophy he brings to every client he represents.
A Standout Year
Liam’s award submission highlighted a remarkable FY25–26, during which he acted as Responsible Lawyer across complex commercial, consumer, regulatory, administrative and equity matters, including:
- Resolving a high-value, time-critical logistics dispute for a national fashion brand, achieving full recovery of inventory and a negotiated commercial outcome within a week, without the need to commence proceedings.
- Leading a complex Australian Consumer Law claim over a defective motorhome, securing a substantial settlement and the return of the vehicle for his client.
- Running urgent Supreme Court proceedings to recover funds misappropriated from a client following family law property settlement orders, including obtaining freezing orders and ultimately securing judgment along with structured repayment and security arrangements.
- Successfully overturning a historical Working With Children Check disqualification, allowing his client to continue caring for his grandson and preserving a stable family placement.
- Acting in a guardianship appeal concerning the statutory limits of Public Guardian appointments, resulting in the original orders being set aside.
- Playing a leading role in urgent interlocutory applications in multi-party Supreme Court proceedings concerning a significant estate, helping secure interim family provision for vulnerable beneficiaries.
Alongside this casework, Liam made a strong contribution to the growth of the firm’s civil litigation practice over the past financial year. In recognition of his performance, Liam was promoted to Associate in February 2026, roughly twelve months after joining the firm as a newly admitted solicitor.
Giving Back to the Profession and Community
Liam’s contribution extends well beyond the courtroom. He helped establish “The Briefing”, a firm-wide initiative bringing staff at every level together to share knowledge and support professional development. He has mentored high school students through work placements and career talks, supported the Central Coast Community Legal Centre, provided pro bono legal assistance including drafting governance documents for a local sporting organisation, and contributed his time to charitable initiatives such as a pro bono will for the Cancer Council.
Outside the law, Liam is heavily involved in the local basketball community, holding roles as Director of Basketball for the Central Coast Academy of Sport and as a Regional Coach within the State Performance Program, where he mentors young athletes across the region.

Now in its 26th year, the Australian Law Awards is presented by Lawyers Weekly and principal partner LawUno, and is widely regarded as the nation’s most prestigious celebration of legal excellence. This year’s ceremony drew close to 950 members of the legal profession, with 36 category winners selected from 330 finalists — themselves drawn from a record 1,206 submissions nationally. Winners were judged against a mix of quantitative and qualitative criteria, including growth, business development, leadership, innovation and contribution to the profession.
